Century Egg Congee with Pork


  • 1 cup of Jasmine white rice
  • For marinated minced pork:
    200g of minced pork
    1 tablespoon of sesame oil
    1 tablespoon of soya sauce
    A dash of pepper
    Chopped shiitake mushroom

For the broth:

  • Ikan bilis
  • Dried scallops
  • Dried mushroom


  • Pitan
  • Spring onion
  • Egg
  • Peanuts
  • Sliced chilli padi (optional)
  • Sliced ginger


1. Marinate the minced pork with chopped shiitake mushroom, soya sauce, sesame oil and pepper. Mix well and use bare hands to shape it into balls. Leave it in the fridge for at least two hours.

2. Prepare the broth for the porridge by adding ikan bilis, dried scallops and dried mushroom to KITH Low-Sugar Rice Cooker – LRC-1L-BK. Make sure to soak the dried scallops and dried mushroom in the water for at least an hour before adding into the broth. Set rice cooker mode to “Soup” and let it boil for an hour.

3. Pour the washed rice into a pot and add in a pinch of salt, and set rice cooker mode to ”Porridge” for about half an hour. Change rice cooker mode to ”Warm” and add in minced pork balls to cook for 8 minutes.

4. Serve the porridge with minced pork balls and add in toppings like pitan, spring onions, peanuts, sliced ginger, chilli paid, and an egg.
